Pune Barclays Linux Run Engineer Job Role
As a Linux Run Engineer, you will be responsible for the operational support, automation, and improvement of Barclays' Linux-based environments. You will contribute to digital transformation, security compliance, and high availability systems in a 24/7 critical setup.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide support for Linux environments and deliver Location Strategy projects.
- Troubleshoot issues and ensure continuous system availability.
- Develop, debug, and maintain shell scripts for automation.
- Adhere to Change Control processes by writing procedures and plans.
- Implement and maintain security standards including PCI-DSS and CIS compliance.
- Utilize DevOps tools like Jenkins and Git for CI/CD processes.
- Work in a high-pressure 24/7 environment, especially in financial or mission-critical systems.
- Engage in continuous improvement of infrastructure and processes.
Required Skills & Knowledge
- Strong knowledge of Linux systems, preferably Red Hat (RHCE certified).
- Hands-on experience with Red Hat Satellite 6/7/8.
- Proficiency in DevOps tools such as Jenkins, Git.
- Expertise in shell scripting (writing, debugging, modifying).
- Experience in security implementation, including encryption, SSL, and certificate management.
- Understanding of industry security frameworks and automated compliance enforcement.
- Familiarity with configuration management tools, preferably Ansible.
- Exposure to JBoss EAP and application layer technologies is a plus.
Eligibility Criteria
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in Linux system administration in a critical, enterprise-level environment.
- Additional Linux certifications (RHCE preferred).
- Prior experience in financial services or other 24/7 operational sectors is advantageous.
